Fishing Creek – November 4th 2017
The Southeastern Catfish Club hosted its 3rd tournament of the 2017-2018 season on Fishing Creek Reservoir Saturday, November 4th.
Tournament registration opened at 5am sharp under a full moon, clear skies, and warmer than normal temps. 29 teams and 69 anglers were ready to compete for the $2,862 purse!
Fishing Creek is a tough nut to crack, but teams that pre-fished reported catching a lot of numbers and quality fish. Due to repairs on the lower dam, the lake levels have been rising and falling dramatically over the last few weeks, so teams wondered what it would do to an already tough bite on the lake. In the end, we finally broke the streak of having a consecutive first time winner! Andy Pitts, Rylan Debruhl, and Chris Debruhl of Team Knot Workin’ took home 1st place with a total weight of 58.69lbs and collected $1,400. Team Knot Workin’ also won our season opener on Lake Wateree in September.
Steve Whitely and Shane Owenby of Team 2nd String finished in 2nd place with a total weight of 54.93lbs and collected $700. They also had 2nd Big Fish of the tournament with a 34.56lb flathead and collected another $160 bringing their total earnings to $860. Less than a half pound behind, Brian Snipes, Mason Brakefield, and Jamie Carter of Team Tightline finished in 3rd place with a 54.53lb stringer and collected $235. Benji and Riley Brown of Team Polekat had Big Fish of the tournament with a 34.81lb bruiser blue and collected $365.
Andy, Rylan, and Chris of Team Knot Workin’ have figured out what’s workin’ with their 2nd win of the season. Congratulation fellas!
