The Southeastern Catfish Club hosted its 3rd and final tournament of the Slimy Night Series August 6th at Lake Wylie.  It was another brutally hot afternoon, but teams came out in full force and was ready to fish.  Word is starting to spread because the numbers of boats entering continue to grow, and again, we a few new teams join us for the first time.  A record 34 teams and 97 anglers rounded out the field and competed for a share of the $3,860 purse! At the sign-in table, the club provided additional details about the benefit tournament in October supporting the Lake Wylie Children’s Charity.  Anglers were given the event flyer along with raffle tickets to sell leading up to the event. Participants also got to check out the new Rage line from Fish Bite Rod Holders and the Big Cat Fever Medium Heavy rod with Eva Foam.  Pepsi came through again and provided ice-cold waters, Gatorades, and sodas to help anglers beat the heat.  At 6pm on the nose, the horn blasted.  A very special thanks to Terry Glenn for providing an aerial view of the launch!

At the end of the night, teams brought impressive stringers to the weigh-in.  Teams didn’t have a problem this time finding big fish. There were 5 teams with a big fish in the 20s, 6 teams in the 30s, 1 team in the 40s, and 1 team in the 50s.  Lee Hardee and Josh Coggins of Team Flint River Cats lead the pack with total weight of 101.75lbs and collected $1,820 for their 1st place finish. They also had Big Fish of the tournament with a 56.75lb blue and collected another $462 bringing their total winnings to $2,282.  Benji Brown, Riley Brown, and Jimmy Holbrook of Team Polekat came in 2nd place for 2nd time in a row with an impressive 3 fish stringer of 79.55lbs and collected $960.  Clay Henderson, Jason Henderson, David Henderson, Landen Lofton, and Hunt Irwin of Team Jamie K Outdoors finished in 3rd place with a total weight of 78lbs even and collected $320.  They had 2nd Big Fish of the tournament and collected another $198 bringing their total winnings to $518.   Congratulations to Lee and Josh for winning the third and final tournament of the Southeastern Catfish Club’s summer series!  We’d also like to thank all of our sponsors for supporting the club members and providing amazing giveaways at the raffle.  We look forward to seeing everyone back at the start of the 2016-2017 season on Lake Wateree on September 10th!
